Day Six - Thursday, December 25, 2025
Readers, I am sure you are thinking make this a short entry so I will. This is because nothing is open on Christmas Day. And when I attempted to book a river cruise on the Thames it was canceled, I canceled our lights and singalong bus tour because the reviews were so horrible. We attended a mass and a half without communion yesterday so the day was wide open.
It was ANOTHER sunny and super cold day in London. So we all took advantage of the dry weather and went running and walking around the south neighborhoods of the Thames including Battersea Park and other towns south of the Thames. Clearly that's what these Brits do on Christmas with the pathways filled with locals enjoying the sunshine.
Breakfast was another prepared meal from Sainsbury's - goat cheese quiches, sticky bread, fruit and the best bacon ever. A few celebratory mimosas and we were convinced it was the best Christmas breakfast ever.
Dinner took place at the Duchy Arms. Given that I ordered Gary to find a good place for Christmas dinner the pressure was on. He rose to the occasion. The food was delicious and substantial and the atmosphere and the patrons were so engaging. He did it! Gary saved Christmas.
Wandering home to 137 Fentimen Street to my phone audio of Christmas carols we were glad for a day to enjoy a more relaxed version of London and got ready for our long last day in this British Isle. I settled in to catch up on the blog and the rest our our family watched a new Christmas movie favorite the Family Stone. We checked in with family back in the states and connected with my Mom spending time with my cousin Faris and Gary checked in with his family surrounded by mounds of torn wrapping paper and presents. Our crew got three gifts as a nod to the three kings Target gift cards, Illinois lottery tickets and a year's subscription to Duolingo.
